Our Story
My husband and I left Spain chasing a dream: to build a new life in the U.S. and create something meaningful far from everything we knew. Texas became our home, full of possibility and new beginnings. For a while, it felt like our dreams were aligning. We were starting a family, and hope filled our hearts. But life had other plans. We suffered a miscarriage, and being thousands of miles from our families made the grief even heavier. In the middle of that pain, I returned to the kitchen. I began baking Basque cheesecakes, a tradition from my homeland. With every cheesecake, I rediscovered my strength, passion, and purpose. That is how Torito Bakery was born. The bull is more than a symbol. In Spain, it represents strength, courage, nobility, and passion. For us, it carries a message: anyone can rise and move forward through sacrifice, courage, and love. It is our Spanish soul, proudly planted in Texas. Every cheesecake I bake is an act of love, proof that from our deepest struggles, something beautiful can emerge. Baked with love, Maria.
